Quip App Reviews

So good at so many things

Combines a lot of productivity features (collaborative documents, functional spreadsheets) with a lot of fun features that bring in some of Slack’s whimsy (make your own memes - giphy integration). I could see myself getting a lot done with this, and having fun doing it. Now if there were only a simple group calendar included, it could pretty much replace all of my teams tools...

If The App Opened It Could Be Reviewed

The OSX desktop app never opens. After three password resets and two re-installs…well, if it takes that much to launch an app, it just isn’t ready for even a Alpha version ship. Unfortunate. Works quite well in-browser, jut not ready for desktop or tablet prime time.

Great App, will be better if add presentation tools

Great App, will be better if add presentation tools such as powerpoint

Great app, great sync, great on mobile...

AFAIK there isn’t a service out there with better sync. The app is great to create, share and collaborate with. The mobile app is great, the web implementation is great…it is a pleasure to use. Imagine, a document creation app that is a pleasure to use. Excellent!

By far the best app of it’s genre.

I have been using this app to communicate with my manager and it has been absolutely amazing. It is very simple and easy to use with a clean interface. I would HIGHLY reccommend this app more than anything else for that type of business. Even the t-shirt they sent me looks nice and I wear it all the time ;) My only critique (but I am sure they will fix this soon) is that for now you can’t download audio or video files and other formats but I would guess that they will incorporate this soon. It has become a must for us, we use it everyday. Again great job.

Web clipper

Please, please, please add a WEB Clipper like in Evernote. I can’t use your app without it. Hope you’ll add this feature soon.

Quip for Mac is a dream come true

I love using Quip for so many uses with my friends and family. I love the Mac notifications, Spotlight support, and more. This app is definitely worth a try.

I use it 10+ hours each day!!

Love everything about Quip - including the spreadsheets - embedding them in a document just makes sense!!!

Excel formatting - not there yet.

Theres a lot to like about Quip but just like the last time I tried it I find the Excel compatibility to be lacking, specificically the formatting. A spreadsheet I imported into Quip is a simple one, and while Quip got the calculations right -- let me emphasize that, its a functional spreadsheet -- the fonts, column widths, coloring and borders were almost all lost. The formatting matters, and until thats corrected Ill have to stick with Google Sheets and Excel.

Horrible for design teams

Downloaded this to give a test run for a team I’m putting together.. As designers, we work with a lot of .PNG files. First image I tried to upload gave me an error message saying that the file format is not yet supported. Instantly deleted the application. It seemed like it had potential, but by testing the image first the rest of the program was irrelevant to me as that is one of my primary needs.

GameChanger

This is an amazing app, cant believe its free! I use this with my team at work and we just replaced 3 tools with one download. The offline functionality is also pretty unreal.

Great collaboration tool, bad user interface modification

I would have given this app 5 stars had they not recently messed up the user interface. When you used to edit spreadsheets, an easy to use toolbar would appear with icons indicating what types of things you could do with the spreadsheet. After the most recent update, however, they have replaced this toolbar with “file”, "edit”, “view", “insert", “format”, and “data” dropdown menus. This makes it less intuitive as to what funcitons are actually available, and requires a second click before you can actually do anything. Furthermore, it adds UI confusion with the native apple menu bar that is listed only a few pixels above the quip menu bar. So now the user sees both native apple “Quip”, “File”, “Edit”, “View”, “Go”, “Window”, and “Help” menu bar items as well as the new “file”, "edit”, “view", “insert", “format”, and “data” dropdown menus. Some functions such as both “Edit” menus have overlapping features (such as “Undo”) but for the most part, even in the “File” menu, the there isnt’ overlap in the functions creating confusion when you are trying to remember which of the two file menus does what feature.

Love this app

I run both my personal life and my work life in this app. It has replaced everything for me — Google Docs, Evernote, even a lot of my email. Could not recommend it more highly!

Flexible yet simple

My wife and I have had great success with using Quip’s iPhone app to manage our grocery shopping list. Unlike a regular to-do list app, Quip is flexible enough that in the same document we can have a checklist, notes for meal ideas, and links to recipes. The activity log makes it easy to see who added or bought what, and the built-in messaging means we can talk about the list in context. Its especially nice that it works offline, so I dont have to worry about spotty connectivity inside of stores. Now that the same app is on my desktop, it’s even easier to manage the list when at home.

Best App to organize my scattered life

I am a designer, writer, homemaker, employee, and girl Friday for many people. This App is unbeatable to make my list, organize my thoughts, store my writings, do my bookkeeping, keep my crochet patterns, …….. you name it and Qup finds it. Saves sooo much time and has my life right at my fingertips. Easy to use and so easy to update your notes. It even keeps previous edits. Love it!
