Great collaboration tool, bad user interface modification
I would have given this app 5 stars had they not recently messed up the user interface. When you used to edit spreadsheets, an easy to use toolbar would appear with icons indicating what types of things you could do with the spreadsheet. After the most recent update, however, they have replaced this toolbar with “file”, "edit”, “view", “insert", “format”, and “data” dropdown menus. This makes it less intuitive as to what funcitons are actually available, and requires a second click before you can actually do anything. Furthermore, it adds UI confusion with the native apple menu bar that is listed only a few pixels above the quip menu bar. So now the user sees both native apple “Quip”, “File”, “Edit”, “View”, “Go”, “Window”, and “Help” menu bar items as well as the new “file”, "edit”, “view", “insert", “format”, and “data” dropdown menus. Some functions such as both “Edit” menus have overlapping features (such as “Undo”) but for the most part, even in the “File” menu, the there isnt’ overlap in the functions creating confusion when you are trying to remember which of the two file menus does what feature.
