Don’t understand the appeal

I don’t understand why the ratings for this app are so high? It does a lousy job of maintaining the formatting of Office documents. It doesn’t allow you to upload more than one document at a time. The interface is confusing (for instance you can add a “chat” to a folder, but you don’t see it in that folder?), etc. There are numerous tools out there that seem to handle all of these things much better, with more features. So why do people like Quip? I’ve tried it several times and each time my collaborators have voted to go back to the tools we used previously.
